Kemklin-106 (Hot Heavy Duty Rust and Scale Remover Hot Process)
Product Description
Kemklin-106 is a phosphoric acid base chemical, mixed with different
types of acids which is specially formulated to remove heavy rust and
scales effectively by hot dipping process. Kemklin-106 is an
inhibited acidic compound, which is suitable for removing the rust
from ferrous metal surfaces. It also removes the oxide film rapidly and promotes good phosphate coating adhesion. Carry over into subsequent phosphate treatment tankwill not interfere with the processing. It requires no expensive equipment for operation.

Product Operating Procedure Kemklin-106 is simply diluted in 1:3
parts with water. Prior to immersion in Kemklin-106 bath, excess oil,
grease and loose rust should be removed manually or by alkaline
degreasing in Trichlor ethylene degreasing. The dipping time period
required for cleaning depends upon the amount of contamination,
concentration, temperature and ferrous iron contents built up in
the bath.
After the immersion in Kemklin-106
bath, the work should be rinsed thoroughly in clean running water and
subjected to phosphating process.
Kemklin-106 bath can be maintained
by simple titration and does not require any skill labour or
chemical knowledge. Bath should be maintained at operating level with
recommended concentration freshly prepared bath acts rapidly but the
action gradually degreases due to the accumulation of ferrous iron
concentration in the bath. Increase the temperature at this stage
accelerates the derusting action, but the temperature should be
controlled as specified. The ferrous ion in the bath should be
not exceed 7%.
Product Application Equipment Kemklin-106 tanks should be lead lined, rubber lined, glass fibre,
rigid polythene, stainless steel tanks made out of 18 guage sheets
preferred. Steam coil or electric heaters.
Testing and Control Procedure Pipette out 10 ml. Of bath solution and further dilute it to 100 ml.
With distilled water. Pipette out 10 ml. Diluted solution into the
conical flask and add 5 -6 drops of methyl orange indicator. Titrate
it N/10 sodium hydroxide solution till yellow end point is observed.
The volume of N/10 sodium hydroxide use is the bath pointage.
Iron Concentration Pipette out 10 ml. bath solution in conical flask and add 10ml. of
50% concentration H2SO4. Mix it thoroughly add titrate this against
N/10. Kmno4 solution till the colour change to light pink stable for
15 seconds. % of Iron in the bath is calculated as 0.056 x Titre
reading maximum permissible limit of iron concentration in
Kemklin-106 bath is 7%.
Chemical Replenishment The bath should be discarded when the concentrated solution and
increase in the temperature do not show faster derusting action and
powder deposits appear on the surface of the metal. Add 1.1 ltr in
the bath for increasing pointage by one unit.
Safety Measures Kemklin-106 is an acidic liquid
material, and while handling it proper care should be taken. Protect
eyes and skin by means of goggles, gloves, etc. If it comes in contact with
skin and eyes thoroughly flush it off with water and get medical advice.
General Information Rust removal: Excellent.
